I grew up the youngest of 10 children in a family of readers. I was an Elementary School Teacher and School Librarian until my move to Tucson, AZ where I have been juggling writing, freelance editing, and teaching. My experiences in education coupled with my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Hamline University have afforded me the skill and insight to write effectively and creatively in many styles: picture books, poetry, personal essays, articles, speeches, and lesson plans. I copy edit and proofread picture books, poetry, non-fiction, newsletters and speeches for various clients.
I have earned both my Competent Communicator award and Competent Leader award through Toastmasters International. I am honing my skills as a public speaker with the intention of being a Professional Speaker in the areas of Children's Literature, Poetry, and Education. In addition to being a member of Toastmasters, I am also a member of the Arizona chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI - AZ) and the Arizona State Poetry Society (ASPS).
Contact me and let's discuss how I can help you.
